Dare to Dream.
5 feet 7 inches, 47 kilograms, skinny structure and thick glasses! This is not the image you would have in mind for a model! The young boy however had a dream! A dream to be a model! I know we would roll on the floor laughing. But this boy was determined, after his daily shower, he would spend time looking into the life size mirror, striking poses. As a child, he was very cute and the apple of everyone’s eye! But his wonderful world came crashing down as he was diagnosed with Myopia – short sightedness. His confidence took a beating and he went into a shell. Those days a muscle building equipment under the brand name Bull worker had just been launched in India. – At school and college, he would be teased as the ‘before’ Bull worker man. He however just wanted to be a model, to show the world that nothing is impossible! How many of us have faced such challenges in life?
Gyaan gurus have written books about how to be successful, but this young boy did not believe in reading those books! He believed in just two things. One -> his dream, and two -> himself…Recently I was watching a series on Hitler and I was amazed at what all the man was capable of! In-spite of his shortcomings, he proved to the world that if you commit yourself to something with full dedication and sincerity, you can achieve it.
Alexander the Great, the man almost conquered the whole world at 30! At the age most of us are still grappling at “getting settled”
All of them had one thing in common! They DARED TO DREAM! They challenged the status quo, and fought against all odds!
- What does it take to have a dream and believe in it?
- Why do some people succeed and some don’t?
- Why are some people afraid to dream?
- dream to be a model?
- dream to be a singer?
- dream to walk the ramp?
Motivation may come to us in any form, external, internal only if we can identify it at the right time. History is replete with examples of people who have dared to dream.
“Failure is only an opportunity to begin again more intelligently” Henry Ford made this remarkable comment after his repeated failures from 1928 to 1945. He did not give up; he persisted, and continued to work towards his ultimate goal of creating something that would help mankind. He learnt things the hard way; he never failed to acknowledge his failures..
Believe it or not, the young boy’s determination paid off! In college, he got a chance to sing to a decent crowd, during the annual day. He was featured as the Fresh Face of a Mumbai suburb... His dream of walking the ramp is yet to be realised. He knows that one day, he would surely achieve it! I know my dream to walk the ramp will come true some day I dare to dream... what about you?
